An ancient Prophecy foretold the Misted Veils, the barrier between the Faewild and the Material Plane would become porous enough for monsters and mortals to pass between the worlds, bringing chaos and destruction to all. The Prophecy said a Champion that was not a blood-born Fae, but an Outsider from Within, would protect the borders and be able to maintain the Misted Veils.
At the end of the Taulirian War, Naiad Guardians rescued an orphaned newborn ogreling from certain death. The Foundling was delivered to three forest dwarves, to be raised in secret and learn the ways of the Fae. For centuries, the Faewild Queen had searched for a halfling worthy or capable, without success. Could this ogreling possibly be the Outsider to fulfill the Prophecy and save the realms?
The Foundling
Book One of The Guardian of the Faewild
Ulbrook is the only son of the great ogre Chieftain Ketzuhak of the Stonemaul Clan. Naiads are sent to rescue the newborn ogreling as his mother lay dying, having escaped the battlefield.
The Queen received a Vision Dream of an ogre, unlike any other, with the markings of a Queen's Guardian. Could this most unlikely creature be the "Outsider from Within" of the Prophecy?
BOOK ONE: THE FOUNDLING
The young orphan, an ogre named Ymir by his adopted parents, is reluctantly accepted into the Treebeard Clan of forest dwarves. Once matured, he will be required to prove his worthiness to attempt the sacred Faewild Rite, the "Little Death."
He must become spiritually reborn as a Fae, surrendering his natural monster-self, embracing his higher spiritual self to become his "Whole Self."
This accomplishment is not easy. His training begins very early and with thousands of failures.
It will be with this accomplishment that he might earn the right to be trained by one or more of the five Elemental Maesters to become a Guardian of the Faewild, if he can survive the trials.

Ymir Strongheart is no longer the orphaned ogreling raised by a clan of forest dwarves. He has found a place among the Fae—but becoming the Guardian he is destined to be will require far more than strength.
Ymir was chosen by each of the five ancient Maesters—Water, Fire, Air, Moon Shadow, and Earth—an honor without precedent, and a challenge few believe he can survive. Each Maester will challenge him differently. Each Trial will demand that he surrender something he believes he knows about himself. And each lesson will exact a price.
But while Ymir learns the responsibilities of power, another is consumed by the desire for it.
Far from Ymir’s trials, an ancient book of runes has become the focus of a dangerous quest of its own. Old resentments are being awakened, loyalties corrupted, and a patient enemy is quietly gathering the forces to strike at the heart of the Faewild.
