What is a Giclée?
A giclée (zhee-KLAY) is an individually produced, high resolution reproduction printed on archival paper or canvas.
Giclée prints are sharper, brighter, last longer and have a color gamut far beyond traditional lithography. Because they can be produced one at a time, the process allows the artist to control nearly every aspect of the reproduction.

Where did the name & technique come from?
When Jack Duganne coined the word “giclée” in 1991 for the Nash-Studios he started a new era of high class printing no longer based on pressuring ink on the media but spraying it in tiny drops on the substrate (canvas or paper). That is what the print heads on inkjet printers do. To make a severe distinction between low end and high end inkjet printers he borrowed the French word “gicler” which means to squirt, spurt or spray.
The Term
The term " Giclée print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various surfaces including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclée printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
The Inks and Canvas
The Inks: They use special light-fast inks, which, if kept out of the sun, will remain true for up to 25 years.
The Canvas: Chromata White Canvas is a textured 20.5 mil Poly-Cotton blend artist stretch canvas with a matte finish. The canvas has a weight of 45- grams per square meter and a IOS whiteness factor of 93. It is acid free and contrains no optical brighteners or fluorescent whitening agents.
Certificate of Authenticity
A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is a legally binding contract between an artist (or gallery) and the purchaser of the giclée fine art print. They are not required when printing an open edition, however they are required under California law when issuing a "Limited Edition".
You can be assured that a Certificate of Authenticity is provided when every Giclée that you purchase to guarantee that it is authentic and a limited edition.

All giclée fine art prints are limited editions of no more than 25 prints. They are printed on the Chromata White Canvas and shipped rolled and not stretched unless special arrangements are made when ordering. All prints will be meticulously hand-finished with special touches.
